Female Baltimore County officer killed after confrontation

There are traffic delays and restrictions in the area as police continue to search for the armed suspect and investigate the incident.

Officers are searching for at least one armed suspect.

There's no information about the suspect, who remains on the run. A man who called into Fox45's live broadcast and said his son witnessed the incident offered a similar account.

Shawn Vinson said she was assigned to the Parkville precinct and would have been a four-year veteran in July.

Area schools would not be released at regular times and are on "alert status" due to increased police activity, BACO Public Safety said. She was rushed to Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore, where she died at 2:50 p.m., officials said.

" Prior to Monday's killing, a 36-year-old tactical officer named Jason Schneider was fatally shot while serving a warrant on August 28, 2013".

Police backed by aircraft and trained dogs scoured a greater Baltimore suburb into the night, seeking suspects believed armed and unsafe after the death of a female officer killed as she investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle.

WBAL TV reported that Baltimore County police said later in the afternoon "that it is unclear how the officer was fatally injured, whether she was shot, run over or both." Cpl.

A manhunt was underway Monday evening in Baltimore County, Maryland, for four suspects involved in the killing of a police officer, who confronted them after responding to a report of a burglary, authorities said.

"It's bad, we're seeing something in this country today that we've never seen before". Vinson said the patio door of a home at the scene showed some damage, suggesting a burglary was in progress.

"One of the officers must have gotten out of the vehicle, I'm not sure if gunfire was exchanged or if they ran over her, but she was laying in the street", she said.

Amendt said his wife also ran outside and tried to revive the officer, to no avail.

The officer was responding to the suspicious vehicle report at around 2 p.m., when the shooting occurred, according to police. It's a quiet community. "Call school administrators for further instructions".

As a result schools in the area have been told to not dismiss students and residents have been warned to stay inside as a search takes place. Belair Road between Ebenezer Road and Chapel Road has been shut down.
