Samsung Galaxy J8 unveiled: dual cameras and large battery on a budget

The more premium of the both, the Galaxy A6+ sports a 6-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED display with 1080x2220p resolution and 18.5:9 aspect ratio.

The Galaxy A6+ has 64GB of inbuilt storage that is expandable via microSD card (up to 256GB).

It has an f/1.7 aperture rear camera of 16-megapixel. The Galaxy A6+ and J8 are powered by a 3,500 mAh battery, while the Galaxy A6 and J6 come with a 3,000 mAh battery and all the devices run on the latest Android operating system - Android Oreo. The smartphone is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC, paired with 4GB of RAM.

On the optics front, the Galaxy J8 ships with dual rear cameras, consisting of one 16-megapixel sensor (f/1.7) and another 5-megapixel sensor (f/1.9) for depth sensing.

The A6+ offers a larger display, more battery life, and a higher resolution front camera compared to the A6. It has an Exynos 7-series processor which is paired with either 3GB RAM/32GB storage, or 4GB RAM/64GB storage, of course with microSD available. For shooting selfies, it is blessed with an f/1.9 aperture 24-megapixel camera. The Galaxy J8 has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded to up to 256GB.

"The A6+ has a 6" FHD+ display, while Galaxy A6 sports a 5.6" HD+ display. The device is backed by a 3500mAh battery and runs on Android O. The market operating price of the device is Rs. 25,990.

The phones also get a cool Chat Over Video feature that lets users to chat with WhatsApp contacts even when watching a video.

Galaxy A series smartphones come with metal unibody and sleek design.

The Samsung Galaxy Light Luxury is available only in China for CNY 4,000 ($625) and it's now available in Burgundy Red, though a Black Night version should launch later on. The Galaxy J8 will go on sale from July.

You will be able to buy both the phones from Flipkart, Samsung's official E-Store, the Paytm Mall, and from brick-and-mortar Samsung stores.

The Samsung Galaxy S Lite Luxury Edition is sold in Black and Burgundy colors and is priced at 3,699 Yuan (Rs 39,458/$579). It has a battery of 3,000mAh capacity. Consumers buying the Galaxy J8 and Galaxy J6 through ICICI Bank credit and debit cards or Paytm will get an additional cashback of Rs 1,500. Samsung is also offering "One time Screen Replacement Offer" for purchases until June 20th. The camera unit also sees a bump over the J6 with a 16MP unit on the rear and back. Both devices come with 16 MP rear facing cameras for your photography needs.

The new handsets in the J-series are affordable as compared to the A-series.
