Wichita police on Friday afternoon said by e-mail that the little body found yesterday hidden beneath a rural Harvey County bridge has been positively identified as that of missing 5-year-old Lucas Hernandez.

This confirmation comes from the Sedgwick County Coroner's Office through an autopsy and dental records.

Tiflati recalls briefly seeing Lucas a week before he was reported missing on February 17th.

Earlier this month, Glass was found not guilty in a child endangerment trial regarding her daughter; a court document related to that case said Lucas Hernandez was frequently seen with bruises and cuts before he disappeared.

Approximately six weeks ago, Kansas Search Investigation, an independent search group, discovered nothing when its members thoroughly searched the area near where the remains were found, according to its leader Misty Cox, The Wichita Eagle reported.

Earlier, Harvey County Sheriff Chad Gay said it appears the body "looks like it has been here for awhile".

Early next week, the Office of the District Attorney will review the results of the autopsy now being conducted as well as evidence gathered by law enforcement throughout this investigation.

KSN asked Marshburn who led him to the body and if Lucas' stepmother Emily Glass and father Jonathan were with him.

"Child death cases are very hard on family, police authorities, and the community", Ramsay said.

"I am not exactly sure how it went down other than Wichita police were involved and they called our dispatch and told them "hey we found a body in your county" and so our guys came out and sure enough there is a body in our county", said Harvey County Sheriff Gay. Police retrieved the body and arrested Glass on Thursday.

As of 10 p.m., Law enforcement officials have not confirmed whether there's been any arrests made in connection with the search and subsequent discovery of a body believed to be that of 5-year-old Lucas Hernandez.

Wichita police are leading the investigation with the Harvey County Sheriff's Office assisting.

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - The stepmother of a 5-year-old Wichita boy whom she reported missing in February was jailed Thursday evening, hours after a small, as-yet unidentified body was found under a bridge in a nearby county.

Ramsay said the case remains active.

A crime scene van is now on the scene in southeast Harvey County. She has not been charged in the boy's disappearance, but Bennett has said she is a person of interest in the case.

Authorities confirmed that "small" human remains were indeed found.

The body was found under a bridge on a gravel road.

A jury found her not guilty last week.
