Weinstein surrendered to police after the Manhattan District Attorney's office and NYPD's months-long investigation into allegations of sexual abuse.

The man who beckoned young women to his hotel rooms for the sole goal of using them, who hired ex-Mossad agents to track anyone liable to expose him, who had vast resources at his fingertips and used them liberally to try to silence the dozens of women he (allegedly) victimized ― even that man is no longer untouchable.

Weinstein has denied having non-consensual sex with anyone, and his lawyer Benjamin Brafman said he meant to plead not guilty.

"We intend to move very quickly to dismiss these charges", Brafman said. "We believe that at the end of the process Mr Weinstein will be exonerated".

"The NYPD thanks these courageous survivors for their courage to come forward and seek justice", the police department said.

He will reportedly face criminal charges of rape and criminal sexual act.

After the accusations became public, entertainment industry heavyweights distanced themselves from Weinstein.

"After decades of abusing women with impunity, finally, the beginning of the end of Harvey Weinstein's reign of terror", reads the statement, which was shared by CNN's Jake Tapper.

What would McGowan say to Weinstein if she were ever to come face-to-face with him again?

"I feel shocked", she added. "It's just the beginning of that process and if we can see this through to the end, I hope we emerge victorious".

It was a carefully choreographed performance.

Los Angeles Police Captain Billy Hayes confirmed on October 19, 2017 that the department was investigating Weinstein after an unnamed woman told police that the Hollywood mogul sexually assaulted her in a hotel in 2013, according to the Times.

He grumbled about the tightness of his specially extended handcuffs, which clasped his hands behind his back, the source said.

The disgraced producer's walk into the courthouse was a grim inversion of the red carpets he'd walk at the height of his power.

The accusations, first reported a year ago by the New York Times and the New Yorker, gave rise to the #MeToo movement, in which hundreds of women have publicly accused powerful men in business, government and entertainment of sexual misconduct.

"Wipe that smile off your face, you f-ing monster", Argento remarked on Twitter about photos of a smiling Weinstein surrendering himself to authorities.

The investigation is being run by the U.S. District Attorney's Office in the Southern District of NY.
