Vivo Apex and its sliding selfie camera coming to market after all

Today, Vivo is back to teasing a similar phone with a pop-up camera in a hype-filled teaser to set the stage for the 2018 World Cup in Russian Federation. The Vivo APEX will also become a daily driver for audiophiles as it offers Hi-Fi audio support, with three amplifiers and a DAC in place.

Back in MWC when Vivo showcased the device, it was still in prototype stage but now the company is promoting the handset for what appears to be a debut in June 2018. Details about the price of the new smartphone are yet to be confirmed. Vivo Apex is the first smartphone to solve the problems surrounding an all-display smartphone. It revealed a 6-inch bezel-less smartphone that deployed the Synaptics optical fingerprint sensor within the OLED display. Vivo have sent us some gifs from a teaser video which you can see below. According to the company, the camera takes only 0.8 seconds to pop out. Earlier it was reported that the smartphone was going to feature a Snapdragon 845 chipset but aside from that there were very little specifications of the device provided. It features a camera tucked inside that elevates from the top.

As for measurements, the phone is just 7.8mm thin, with the left and right bezels occupying a thickness of 1.8mm while the bottom bezel occupies a space of 4.3mm. Overall, there is a 7.8mm of thickness. The smartphone has a proprietary Screen SoundCasting technology that generates vibrations through the display to produce sound. This works as an earpiece as well as a loudspeaker.
