Sister of Dutch queen dies aged 33 in Argentina

Dutch Queen Maxima's younger sister has died in Buenos Aires, "most likely as a result of suicide", the Dutch Royal House and media reports said Thursday. Zorreguieta is believed to have taken her own life.

Máxima said in a reaction that she is "very shocked and very upset" by the news, the RVD said.

Her father, Jorge Horacio Zorreguieta, died previous year in Buenos Aires aged 89. Her expected schedule had included the opening of musical event the Holland Festival, and next week's royal tour of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania.

Queen Maxima, a native Argentinian, married then Dutch Crown Prince Willem-Alexander in 2002.

According to reports, Inés Zorreguieta worked for the civil service in Buenos Aires, and had been suffering from depression.

Queen Maxima also has two brothers, Martin and Juan, as well as three half-sisters from her father's first marriage.

Queen Máxima has cancelled a string of public engagements following news of the death of her youngest sister, at the age of 33.

Tributes were paid to her on an Instagram video her brother Martin posted previous year of his "very attractive and talented little sister" singing and playing the guitar.
