Signs of the disease include swelling, changes to one's voice and lumps like the one that Dr Voigt noticed on Nicole's throat. "I had to make a choice whether to ignore it or actively try to contact her".

In his line of work, he has seen thousands of patients with the same issue, and when he saw Nicole's lump was asymmetrical and moving under her skin as she spoke, the doctor got anxious.

Regardless of not realizing Nicole's final title, the physician managed to get in contact along with her, from a whole lot of miles away, through the social community.

Doctor Erich Voigt was just relaxing in front of the TV when Nicole McGuinness was speaking on a show.

"Dr. Voigt saw this, and brought it to my attention, and now I'll be treated for it", she told ABC News.

32 year old Nicole McGuinness from North California following the doc's advise went to a medical professional and got diagnosed for Thyroid cancer after a biopsy and a sonogram. She was then tested by a local doctor and learned she had thyroid cancer.

"It's just a miracle, in my opinion, that he happened to see this on television".

A woman is now in cancer treatments after a doctor, who happened to be watching her on an episode of HGTV's Beachfront Bargain Hunt, noticed an odd lump on her neck.

Dr Voigt, who mentioned serving to Nicole was "emotional", met the contestant for the primary time in particular person this week for a section for "Good Morning America".

Nicole had been diagnosed with a stage IV glioblastoma - the same cancer the Senator John McCain is now battling - in 2015, before she was 30 years old. Voigt added that social media tends to generate fake news and was happy that for once it was used in a positive way. "I've held back some tears". It helped someone. It connected people.
