The film just didn't have any kind of buzz going for it and met with extremely lukewarm response even though there were low expectations.

While Kaala in USA has joined the United States dollars 1 million club, the film has become the second highest opening weekend grosser for an Indian film in 2018 in Australia and has raked in Rs 2.04 crore. Considering its current pace of collection, the movie may recover another Rs 8 crore in the coming days. "This should be the first and last week for the Hindi version of the film in theatres".

The four-day collection of Kaala is equal to the opening day business of Kabali.

The much delayed film also had to combat the boring Ramzan period in north India when most exhibitors are waiting to showcase Salman Khan's Eid offering Race 3.

According to the latest reports, Kaala collected close to Rs 1.7 Crore on day 3 and remained the top pick of the movie buffs.

The stakes are very high on Kaala, as the distributors have reportedly shelled out Rs 33 crore on its AP/T theatrical rights.

Director Pa Ranjith's Kaala has made a poor collection at the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana (AP/T) box office in the four-day-extended first weekend and got the first taste of disaster to Rajinikanth. The film is doing well at worldwide box office and has touched Rs 6.83 crore at the American box office.

Despite releasing on Thursday and in the process gaining an additional day for the weekend, Rajinikanth starrer Kaala [Hindi] has turned out to be a no-show at the box office. Tickets for the first weekend hadn't sold out in Tamil Nadu even two days before the film's release, which has not been the case for past releases of the actor.
