Sergeant Anthony Mannino received the Naperville Police Department's life saving award Thursday because of a heroic act that was caught on video.

An officer is being honored for rescuing a toddler he spotted running on the side of a busy highway in a Chicago suburb last month. Then as he drew closer, Mannino realized it was actually a toddler wandering dangerously close to traffic.

"Come here!" Mannino shouts as he runs and catches up to the little boy.

No one was hurt, which the police department attributes to Mannino's "observation while on patrol and quick reaction, placing his squad vehicle and himself between the child and traffic". According to the Naperville Police Department's Facebook page, the child "escaped his mother's watchful eye" and left his home.

The boy's mother arrived moments after Mannino saved him, WGN reports. Police ruled the incident an accident.
