Emergency services arrive at the scene of a hostage situation in central France on Tuesday, June 12, 2018. The incident is not believed to be terror-related.

An armed man has taken hostages at a building in a northern district of Paris.

In response, anti-terrorist police have surrounded a Mixicom computer store in the city's 10th arrondissement, which is close to the Gare du Nord Eurostar hub. Officials declined to provide more details. Law enforcement officials cordoned off the area.

Police would not immediately confirm whether the person holding the hostages was armed or describe the nature of his demands.

A pregnant woman is reportedly being held captive along with possibly two other people in Paris, according to Daily Mail. But the police source said he had asked to communicate with the Iranian embassy so that they could convey a message to the French government. The suspect reportedly doused two of the hostages with gasoline after the one managed to escape.
