Ubisoft Toronto has announced the release date for its toys-to-life game, Starlink: Battle for Atlas.

It seems like no one expected the visit from Miyamoto, who stood up to a cue of wild applause from the crowd.

Ubisoft showed off more of "Starlink" with a trailer at E3 on Monday.

There is also a Starlink: Battle for Atlas Nintendo Switch Starter Edition that includes a Fox figurine and Arwing, as well as a figurine of an original character and weapon attachments.

Considering we're expecting a rumoured Star Fox racing hybrid from Retro Studios, could this be Nintendo testing the waters for Ubisoft to make a full Star Fox outing?

In related news, online listings for the game have revealed a download of 15GB via a wireless connection will be required in order to play, even if you own a physical copy. Battle in exclusive Add-on Star Wolf missions! Here's hoping a selection of cool Arwing toys will be made available to use in conjunction with the game. How it all works is described in the trailer you see below. The game will feature split-screen multiplayer for up to two players and seven "massive unique planets" to explore.
