But Burton's Disney adaptation of Dumbo surprisingly reigns back the darkness and gives us a little more of that childhood awe in the Dumbo trailer.

The all-new, live-action adventure expands on the beloved classic story where, as Disney puts it, "differences are celebrated, family is cherished and dreams take flight".

The story of Dumbo, a baby elephant born with abnormally large ears who is separated from his mother and shunned by other elephants, serves as a reminder of the importance of "inclusion, acceptance, kindness, and support", Farrell explained.

"Dumbo" is Buton's first release since "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" in fall 2016. There, they bond with the circus's newest addition, a shy young elephant named Dumbo.

Technically, Burton " s film picks up where the 1941 original left off. But Dumbo has a unique ability that soon garners the attention of the greedy entrepreneur - and obvious P.T. Barnum stand-in - V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton). Once the elephant reveals he can fly, the circus owner concocts a plan to make the circus rich. Eva Green, Michael Keaton, and Alan Arkin co-star.

With the likes of The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast continuing to prove box office gold, Disney is continuing to remake its classics in live-action (or, photoreal-animated) form - and its latest offers an intriguing pairing of material and director.

Farrell, 42, plays Holt Farrier, seen above in an exclusive first look with Eva Green, who plays aerial acrobat Colette Marchant.

The movie, which will hit theaters in March 2019, is directed by Tim Burton.
