Vole is also stopping support for Surface Pro, Surface Pro 2, Surface RT, Surface 2, Microsoft Band and Zune.

Both Windows 7 and 8.1 are already out of mainstream support and not getting feature updates, like Windows 10. Users will still be able to access the forums and get advice from each one, albeit without feedback from a Microsoft employee.

In its latest move, Microsoft announced last weekend that its army of staffers actively contributing to Microsoft Answers won't provide support and assistance for the following products across different forums, starting next month.

Microsoft Community participants are welcome and encouraged to continue to use the forum to ask questions and post answers with each other.

Naturally, it makes sense that these products are discontinued as Microsoft no longer supports them regardless.

The products listed on that page are Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 8.1 RT; all three products are still supported (albeit in extended support).

It is interesting to note that another Microsoft support agent posted a similar announcement in the Windows 8.1 forum highlighting that Microsoft would so for products that "reached end of support". Therefore, it does not come as a surprise to see Microsoft assigning their staff to responding to questions for newer products that are still under full support.

While Microsoft still keeps Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 in extended support, it's clear that the firm is shifting support scope to mainline supported devices shifting forward.
