"Fortunately the three fast bowlers (Wafadar, Sayed Shirzad and Yamin Ahmadzai) were not in T20I squad and they have been concentrating on Test preparation".

"We feel we are well prepared".

Afghanistan has already proved its potential in limited-overs cricket, but history beckons the war-torn nation as for the first-time ever its players will take the field wearing white flannels and pants.

"I think there will always be a little bit of disappointment in the players in not being on the same cricket field as Virat, especially".

After the one-off Afghanistan Test match, Rahane has nothing to look forward to as he has been dropped from the limited-overs side which is going to United Kingdom first. So it's case where they are disappointed that he's not playing but at the same time.a little bit of happiness, having to bowl at him all the time is not going to be nice.

All the focus in the lead-up to the Bengaluru Test has been on Afghanistan.

The Indian skipper refused to be drawn into comparisons between the spinners on both sides, saying every player believed his team is good and their bowling and batting is better. "That's how we look at it", Simmons said.

In regards to the Afghan spin sensation Rashid Khan, Nair said "Most of us have played him in the T20 but this is a different ball game. My captain knows what he is talking about", Simmons laughed with Stanikzai also grinning beside him. "We are happy to be here and playing India, Virat is not India". "When you look at it, all spinners in this contest will be excellent".

"We know that right now, Rashid is the most hard spinner to play around". While Afghanistan players are practicing hard by shunning the media interactions, Indian team is eager to spoil the visitors debut Test plans. "I am very sure that they (Afghanistan) would be better bowlers by the start of the next Test match than what they are now", Karthik said.

"The mental part comes from the way you train, how long you bat and how long you bowl and train in the nets", Simmons said. That's the only thing that you can really prepare. Because when you get over there then you understand what it takes to be over there. They have played some terrific brand of cricket in the shorter versions of the game and their 3-0 series victory against Bangladesh is a sheer reflection of how they have improved in the recent past. "The good thing about it is that they will learn quickly", Simmons said.
