Garmin vívoactive 3 Music: Your Songs on Your Wrist

Garmin has clearly made music a priority with its latest wearables.

Essentially an upgraded version of the standard Vivoactive 3 released at the back of a year ago, the 3 Music will now let you store music on another of its watches as well as enjoy some offline syncing support from select music streaming services. The same is true of the life when using Global Positioning System with music, which Garmin places around five hours - the same as with the Forerunner 645 Music, which we found to be on the money. "Up to" 500 songs can be stored on the Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music, and alas, there's no word on upcoming compatibility with Spotify or Apple Music.

The Garmin Vivoactive 3 debuted a year ago and impressed us with its responsive touchscreen, a strong Global Positioning System signal that quickly locks in your location, and the addition of mobile payments.

To get music on there in the first place you can either transfer it from your computer or download offline music playlists from select streaming services. When outside, you can use Garmin Pay to buy coffee and snacks and when you get back home, the SmartThings integration will let you control smart devices at home. Once music is loaded onto the wrist and a pair of Bluetooth headphones are connected, everything is ready to go. Otherwise, it's virtually identical in design and abilities as the Vivoactive 3.

The Garmin vivoactive 3 Music has a built-in Global Positioning System receiver to track your exercises.

Namely, up to 7 days in "smartwatch mode", 13 hours with the built-in Global Positioning System chip turned on, and around 5 hours in "GPS mode" with music.

If you're interested in a Garmin smartwatch with onboard storage for music, the Vivoactive 3 Music is a significantly more affordable option than the Forerunner 645 Music.

Still, if you're into athletic activities, it's hard to compete against this bad boy at $300.
