A source has since told The Sun Online: "Duty of care is the most important consideration on shows like this and as soon as he felt unwell, ITV would have had a discussion with him about leaving".

'The decision they took would have been taken between all parties with Niall's health being the only consideration'.

When asked by Express.co.uk, ITV declined to comment.

An insider told the Daily Mail newspaper: "Niall left for personal reasons regarding himself only".

Another added: "We just found out when it came on the press".

They continued: "We are as shocked as everyone else is".

Hardcore fans have been sharing their thoughts on Twitter and while it's probably just the usual speculation that occurs when a contestant exits a reality show without warning, fans are intrigued nonetheless. "He is really popular as he's a lovely boy".

According to a statement from ITV, Niall left "for personal reasons".

After just one week in the Love Island villa, there has been adequate drama to make the case for LAMDA opening a school in Majorca.


However, it looks like you will have to keep guessing over the reasons why exactly he left the villa, as Niall has only retweeted a number of reports revealing his shock departure to fans, including some from his celeb fans. 'We got on really, really well.

Taken aback by his sudden departure, Dr Alex admitted Niall will be missed by all as he reiterated how much of a "great guy" he is.

Dumped Kendall Rae-Knight was seen on the show last Sunday after she was snubbed by Adam Collard for new girl Rosie Williams.

Magazine reports, it is now unclear whether Niall has taken back control of his social media accounts, as the Islanders' families and friends usually run them while they are starring on the reality dating show.

His exit will be aired during tonight's show, and it's up to Alex to reveal the devastating news to the rest of the Islanders.

Fans were divided over the 27-year-old's swipe, with one replying: "To be fair they only been coupled up a few days. Far too excited when the new boys came in".
