Unfortunately, though, this is off-screen footage, though it will give you an idea of what you can expect from this upcoming remake of Resident Evil 2.

The announcement was made by Capcom at E3.

Similar to the universally acclaimed 2002 remake of the original Resident Evil, this new version of Resident Evil 2 was built from the ground up, with top-of-the-line visuals and a more intuitive control scheme. Both Leon and Claire have their own separate playable campaigns, allowing players to see the story from both characters' perspectives.

First released for the original PlayStation in January 1998, Resident Evil 2 follows the adventures of rookie Raccoon City police officer Leon Kennedy on his first day on the job. Along with Claire Redfield, he must escape the precinct and get out of the city.

In Resident Evil 2, the classic action, tense exploration, and puzzle solving gameplay that defined the Resident Evil series returns. To this day it has retained it's title as the best selling single platform game. Perhaps the biggest change is the switch to an over-the-shoulder camera, like the one used in Resident Evil 4, as opposed to the fixed camera angles seen in the PS1-era Resident Evil games.

Of course, much has changed since Resident Evil 2 made its PlayStation debut, and the remake of Resident Evil 2 reflects many of those changes. Let us know in the comment section below!

What we're saying is that this looks like the modernized version of an all-time classic horror game that we've been hoping Resident Evil 2 Remake would end up being from the moment Capcom first teased it. Just hit the buttons on the top of this page.
