Thunderstorms are likely to hit by this afternoon.

The greatest threats from these storms will be heavy rain, gusty wind over 50 miles per hour and large hail. It does not mean that they will occur; it only means they are possible.

A severe thunderstorm watch has ended for Waterloo region, Guelph and Wellington county after being in place for much of Wednesday afternoon.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect for parts of CNY until 11 pm.

According to the national weather agency, the biggest threat from the storms will be damaging wind gusts between 90 to 100 km/h. At this speed, wind can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees or overturn large vehicles.

The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that anyone outdoors take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
