BMW 630d Gran Turismo launched at Rs. 66.50 lakh

Locally produced at the Chennai plant, the 6 Series 630d Gran Turismo is offered in two design schemes - Luxury Line at Rs 66.5 lakh and M Sport version at Rs 73.7 lakh, both prices ex-showroom across India.

The BMW 6 Series GT is meant to be the brand's answer to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class in India, which is only available in long-wheelbase form. The BMW 6-series GT diesel will be available across all BMW dealerships in India.

There are two grades of the 6-Series GT diesel available in India - Luxury Line and M Sport.

While the BMW 630d Gran Turismo Luxury Line is priced at Rs 6.65 million, the BMW 630d Gran Turismo M Sport is priced at Rs 7.37 million (ex-showroom), it added. The new variant, called the 630d Gran Turismo is powered by a 3-litre inline-six turbocharged diesel engine which makes 261 bhp and 63.26 kgm. The engine is mated to a 8-speed Steptronic Sport Automatic Transmission. The vehicle sprints from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.1 seconds.

The first-ever BMW 6-Series GT was first launched at the 2018 Auto Expo in India. The BMW 630d Gran Turismo also comes with a Launch Control feature as standard. The display also shows fuel range, service reminders, cabin temperature and other information.

The smartphone holder integrated into the centre console enables inductive Wireless Charging for mobile phones and BMW Display key.

Both trims come loaded with features such as two-part panoramic roof, electrically adjustable rear seats and electric sunblinds for the rear windows. "The success of the first-ever BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo will now be taken forward as we present it in a new diesel variant, broadening the range of choices for our discerning customers". For the sake of perspective, BMW retails the 5-series, on which the 6-series GT is based, costs between Rs 53.80 lakh and Rs 66.20 lakh.

Other standard features on the new BMW 6-Series GT: 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Rear-Seat entertainment with 10.2-inch colour screens, BMW Navigation, BMW Connected Drive and a Harman Kardon Audio System. The M Sport grade is new to the 6 GT and brings with it an M Sport Package, which includes grille with a black high-gloss finish, key fob with exclusive M logo, M door sill finishers with illumination, M Aerodynamics package with front apron, side skirts and rear apron with diffuser insert in Dark Shadow metallic, M Sport brake with brake callipers in Dark Blue metallic and M logo, trapezoidal chrome exhaust tip, and M badges, and 19-inch alloy wheels.
