UPDATE: Other reports seem to have indicated the suspect was Tyler Honeycutt.

The barricade began about 5 p.m. Friday, when police received a call from the suspect's mother, who said her son was acting erratically.

Tyler Honeycutt, a former National Basketball Association and EuroLeague pro, died in the aftermath of an officer-involved shooting in Los Angeles, ABC7-Los Angeles reported in the early morning hours on July 7.

LAPD SWAT officers went into the home and discovered the unidentified man's body early Saturday morning after shots were fired.

"While officers could not communicate with the man after the shooting, they believed he was still alive based on text messages". Police said the man, who was in his 20s, fired a gun at officers but did not hit anyone.

While there's no official confirmation for the identity, there are many news reports about Tyler Honeycutt being the deceased. At least 30 residents surrounding the home were evacuated as a precaution.

The investigation into what led to this situation is still ongoing. Authorities did not report his cause of death.

He played basketball for the UCLA Bruins from 2009-2011.

The Kings drafted Honeycutt in the second round (35th overall) along with Isaiah Thomas (60th) and Jimmer Fredette, the first-round pick (10th) who was acquired in a three-way trade with Milwaukee and Charlotte.

This is an unfortunate event to have happened and the UCLA family is mourning the loss of one of their own. You will be missed.
