The petition, which seeks to show Microsoft how much demand there is for the device, had close to 11,000 signatures Monday morning.

Despite Mary Jo Foley's report of Microsoft's portable Surface "Andromeda" device never seeing the light of day, fans are not giving up hope and have set up a new petition to drive their interest home to Redmond. ", Already gaining almost 10,000 signatures".

All the fans of Windows phone want Microsoft to release the Surface Phone or "Surface Andromeda Phone Project" that has been leaking out lately with the phone screen that can turn into a tablet, the petition read.

Andromeda has been hinted for quite some time, with its current foldable incarnation leaking as early as January past year.

Rumblings of a handheld foldable Surface device that blurs the lines of PC, tablet and smartphone have been leaking out for the last few months.

Excitement is building for a new dual screen mobile device that hasn't even been announced yet. "I myself wouldn't mind paying between $799-$999 for this phone if it happened and looked like the pictures that we have seen from those leaks", goes on the petitioner Zachary Hinski.

The Andromeda project tends to become a legend since there is no official statement from Microsoft until now.

KitGuru Says: Lumia smartphones were namely disastrous thanks to their lack of third-party application support that led to slow adoption and therefore stagnation of hardware on the devices. Bowden claims Microsoft planned to address this by "use(ing) the extra time to talk with developers and try to get some big names into the Microsoft Store with apps that work on Andromeda". What do you think of the proposed Andromeda foldable device? When Microsoft's Windows 10 17672 SDK was released, references were found for "Factory OS Andromeda", a system that is widely connected to the company's mysterious handset.
