Mirror Sport understands the ex-defender, 35, has been taken to police station in north London.

Ex- Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue has been arrested on suspicion of arson.

The 35-year old Ivory Coast global was reportedly arrested on Saturday, July 7 in London over suspicion of arson.

Since his retirement, Eboue, a cult hero at Arsenal, has given interviews that have sparked concerns for his mental health.

A met police report further stated that authorities were investigating an incident involving a residential area in London where a "35-year old suspect" was taken in over alleged arson.

'He was taken to a north London police station where he now remains'.

It is also reported that his family is anxious about his emotional state because the former player has been going through alot in the past few months.

Eboue has lost everything and was left homeless after a failed appeal against his divorce to ex-wife Aurelie and is now suffering from a severe mental illness.

'He has been bailed for further enquiries in relation to the other offences'. He then returned to the Premier League with Sunderland in 2016 but did not play a single game for the club due to being given a one-year ban for not paying a former agent who represented him.

Eboue has been out of professional football for two years, although he played in an Arsenal Legends game last month.

The Ivory Coast global told the Sunday Mirror last Christmas of his plight since his playing days - admitting he had been left homeless following a divorce.
