Police are investigating whether the driver was impaired. CBS New York reports a mass Sunday morning honored 61-year-old Audie Trinidad of Teaneck and his daughters, 20-year-old Kaitlyn, 17-year-old Danna and 13-year-old twins Melissa and Allison. The driver of the vehicle, a 24-year-old Brian C. Kern from Bethlehem, Pa., was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released. He had minor injuries.

Hubbard and Kern could not be immediately reached for comment on Sunday. It then crossed into the northbound lane, perpendicular to opposing traffic.

"To lose four children in a's just unheard of", Delaware State Police Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe said.

The family was driving back to New Jersey from vacation.

Police said the husband and wife were properly restrained in the vehicle, but the four girls were not.

Only the mother, 53-year-old Mary Rose, survived the crash.

Ballocanag, a nurse at Beth Israel Medical Center in Manhattan, remains hospitalized in DE with several broken bones - and, heavily sedated, still struggling to process that she's the only one left from her immediate family, relatives said. "So far, we're holding up, you know, we're holding up as best as we can". "They were the picturesque family, they really were", says Roselyn Ortiz. So are the kids, they were loved by their classmates and friends. "They're really great students and they had awesome opportunities, I can't believe this happened to them", said Stinger. "She knows. The thing that she doesn't know is that my brother and two of the girls are unrecognizable (at the morgue)". I don't think she wishes she was alive.

As word of the accident spread through the community and on social media, many mourned the family and remembered them as a close-knit, religious family.

All Trinidad family members, except mother, Mary Rose (second from left), died in a vehicular crash in Townsend, Delaware on Friday, July 6, 2018.

"Everybody is in shock and dismay", he said on Sunday.

Cable barriers will be installed along 23 miles of State Route 1 in DE, the same road where police say a father and his four daughters were killed Friday in a crash involving a vehicle that crossed over the grassy median between both directions of the roadway. Meanwhile, grief counselors were being made available at Teaneck High School through Friday.
