James McClean has "refused to attend" a West Brom training camp

James McClean has refused to attend a training camp with West Bromwich Albion, according to the club.

The Championship side said he "failed to report without permission".

West Brom open their new campaign in the second tier of English football with a home game against Bolton Wanderers at The Hawthorns on Saturday 4th August. Dawson remains at the club, though was allowed to miss the trip to Scotland after recently becoming a gather.

The Ireland global has been heavily linked to Championship side Stoke City, with the Potters having had a £4 million bid rejected last month and it is thought that Gary Rowett's side will return with an improved bid for the Derry winger. Gary Rowett, the new Stoke manager, appears to be a fan of the former Sunderland winger and attempted to sign him for Derby County back in January.

McClean follows the stance adopted by Ben Foster and Craig Dawson earlier in the summer as both refused to go on a pre-season training camp to Portugal.

McClean, who joined West Brom from Wigan Athletic three years ago, has made almost 100 appearances for the club since his arrival.

Why can't the Celtic soul brothers hate England like we used to?.
