Jeremy Hunt, appointed the new Foreign Secretary as the Prime Minister carried out a hurried reshuffle of her top team, vowed he would be "four square" behind her in driving through her Brexit plan.

Matt Hancock MP has been promoted to one of the most senior and sought-after positions in government, the Secretay of State for Health and Social care, he will replace long-standing Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt.

His departure followed that of Brexit Secretary David Davis and several junior figures.

May's supporters worry that more ministers could resign, and pro-Brexit lawmakers from her Conservative Party could trigger a no-confidence vote in the prime minister.

Labour Deputy Leader Tom Watson left listeners in hysterics with this brutal putdown of Boris Johnson.

In a scathing resignation letter, Mr Johnson - who led the official Leave campaign in the European Union referendum - said the dream of the Brexiteers was "dying, suffocated by needless self-doubt" and that Mrs May's plan would reduce the United Kingdom to the "status of a colony".

Boris Johnson has quit as UK Foreign Secretary. Earlier this year he was promoted to the cabinet as the Digital Secretary.

Theresa May's government is in crisis.

On Friday, May seemed to have agreed a vital Brexit plan at Chequers with her cabinet.

Addressing parliament today, the Prime Minister told MPs: "We do not agree about the best way of delivering our shared commitment to honouring the result of the referendum". Later, he told the BBC the United Kingdom was giving "too much away, too easily" in negotiations with the EU.

With Johnson's resignation, a noisy rebellion among the ranks could gather steam.

But in parliament, her words suggested she had made a decision to face down the dissenters rather than change her plans.
