Wilshere, who won the FA Cup twice with Arsenal and has 34 England caps, is set to fly out to Switzerland to link up with new West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini's squad at their pre-season training camp.

Chelsea FC are believed to be on the lookout for a host of new signings this summer, but the Blues have not yet completed any transfer deals.

He returned to make 38 appearances for the Gunners last season but chose to leave in search of first-team football after meeting with new Arsenal manager Unai Emery.

However, Wilshere admitted on Monday that he supported the Hammers as a boy and talked about the "special bond" that he had with the club while he was growing up.

"My family and a few of my friends are West Ham fans so everyone's buzzing".

After David Moyes made sure the Hammers didn't get relegated last season the Scot left and was replaced by former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini.

'It's well known that I come from a family of Hammers and it's a special moment to sign for the club I used to go and watch as a boy. "The manager being one and the way he wants to play and where he sees me playing".

Wilshere said there were various factors that influenced him to join the club.

He was spotted outside the London Stadium earlier today wearing a West Ham shirt for the photoshoot as part of his reveal. "Jack will be a great addition and we look forward to seeing his undoubted quality in a West Ham United shirt over the coming years as we fight for important goals at the club". Wilshere was born in Stevenage and was brought up in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, an hour's journey north of West Ham's old ground of Upton Park.

Wilshere has had injury problems in the past but was able to get plenty of game time for Arsenal last season.
