He averaged 14.1 points in his final season at UCLA, second on the team, behind former National Basketball Association player Jason Kapono (16.0), and just ahead of ex-NBAer Matt Barnes (13.5).

Former UCLAbasketball player Billy Knight was found dead on a Phoenix roadway early Sunday, the second death of an ex-Bruin this week.

There was no evidence of foul play, police said.

There has been no official cause of death, but the YouTube video suggests suicide. "I just asked God for forgiveness for all the wrong I've done". I lied. I cheated. "I isolated myself from my family members". I love you more than words can ever define! "If this happens, you probably have a mental illness". I hear voices in my head constantly and I don't know where they come from.

"Mental illness is serious". I just feel like I didn't belong here on earth, so, my time is up. Unfortunately, Knight couldn't get the help he needed in time, and UCLA fans have to say goodbye to another athlete far too early. But he said he left "some things" for him, saying it's not much, but it's what he had left.

UCLA Basketball announced the news Tuesday on Twitter. "We ask that the Bruin family keep Billy's loved ones in their thoughts during this hard time".

Knight played guard for the Bruins from 1997-2002 where he averaged 8 points and 2.2 rebounds per game, including 14.1 points per game in a breakout senior year where he started all 33 games. Knight played professionally overseas including stints in France and Japan and worked as a basketball skills coach.

Knight was a basketball operations assistant for the Northern Arizona Suns of the developmental G League in the 2016-17 season.
