The first trailer for Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween has arrived!

Goosebumps 2 is arriving with more spooktacular cinematic goodness to reinvigorate the childhood memories of '90s kids and haunt a new generation.

While the first movie starred Jack Black as Goosebumps author R.L. Stine, this new addition to the franchise focuses on the evil antics of Slappy the puppet.

Yesterday, Sony and Goosebumps teased the release of the trailer with a tweet from the film's villain, Slappy. At the time, it looked like Darren Lemke would reprise his screenwriting duties. According to Variety, Rob Lieber (whose credits include Disney's Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day) will pen the script for the Goosebumps sequel. Haunted Halloween stars Madison Iseman, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Caleel Harris, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Chris Parnell, and Ken Jeong.

Slappy is back to wreak more havoc this Halloween in a brand-new comedy adventure based on R.L. Stine's 400-million-selling series of books.
The first film made $156.7 million on a $58 million budget, and hit #1 on the sales charts when it was released on home video.

Interestingly enough, the date bump might just shed some light on the still-mysterious sequel status of star Jack Black. The sequel takes a similar spin, but seems to remove Black's R.L. Stine from the equation. But it was widely reported in December 2017 that Black was coming back to play the writer and voice Slappy. And we never see Stine in the trailer above, which is odd. And like the older kids, it's expected that Stine will show up in the last third of the movie to help contain his creations and save the town from a complete monster takeover. Check it out in the player below along with the first poster and images in the gallery! Goosebumps 2 is set to hit theaters October 12.
