Darcy, a French Bulldog, was on a flight from Florida to MA when she started having trouble breathing. Michele and Steven Burt were on a Jet Blue flight Thursday from Florida to MA when they noticed something wrong with their French bulldog Darcy. Her tongue began to turn blue and she was having difficulty breathing.

She said the flight attendants were well prepared because Renaud has a French bulldog of his own named Penelope.

Crew member Renaud Spencer holds Darcy after the dog was feeling better.

Burt noticed that Darcy was in distress while she was still in her carrier, but realized on the flight that Darcy's tongue had turned blue - a sign of oxygen deprivation.

"I applied the mask to her face and it really was nearly an immediate response; her eyes opened wider and it was just apparent that it was effective", Burt told MNN.

These flight attendants are being hailed for looking after their passengers - no matter their species - during their time of need. Not only that, they later returned with a small oxygen tank and mask. But Darcy kept panting frantically, Michele wrote in her letter.

"We all are affected by cabin pressure and oxygen fluctuations, human, canine and feline, etc., but the fact that the Attendants were responsive and attentive to the situation may have saved Darcy's life", Burt wrote on Facebook.

One of the dog-saving crew members, Renaud Fenster, told ABC's "Good Morning America" Monday that in his 15 years of working for an airline he has "never seen anything like this".

He said he saw Darcy on Burt's lap "and I believe the dog passed out", he told GMA.

JetBlue released a statement to ABC News about the incident, which could have been risky had flight crew not reacted.

Mrs Burt gave Darcy some water and said flight attendants then helped and "may have saved Darcy's life". "We're thankful for our crew's quick thinking and glad everyone involved was breathing easier when the plane landed in Worcester".
