Klopp plays down Karius mistake

Loris Karius was given a vote of confidence by Jurgen Klopp at the start of Liverpool's pre-season, as he was backed by his boss following his calamitous performance in the Champions League final, where he gifted Real Madrid two goals, but Karius made another glaring goalkeeping error in the Reds pre-season friendly at Tranmere Rovers this evening. Our job is to support Loris, that's our part of the deal.

"It is obvious, we don't have to hide it".

And Karius managed to spill the shot, allowing it to bounce in front of him rather than taking it cleanly.

'I saw this situation 500 times in my life the ball hits his chest but what can you do'.

"Now Loris concedes that goal but we can not start the story always after each mistake. We need to cool down the whole situation; let's play football, let's work on our weaknesses and use our strength and then everything will be good".

"Two brilliant footballers make this mistake, which one was the bigger?"

Rafael Camacho, Sheyi Ojo and Adam Lallana - the England midfielder captaining the side - were on target before the break at Prenton Park on Tuesday. 'No one likes that goal, but if we talk about that then the second goal is Milly's (James Milner's) fault, ' he said.

Karius only played part of the friendly, with Wales global Danny Ward also selected.

Speaking to Liverpool FC's website, Klopp said: "I'm not sure if I should have expected something different but it [the reception from fans] was nice, absolutely nice. I would say the second one but we don't talk about that". "That's the situation - 3-2, nobody injured and everybody had 45 minutes [of] intensity That's what we wanted".
