If security is uncertain, a judicial remand may be sought while Nawaz and Maryam are held at Rawalpindi's Adiala jail, where Captain Safdar is also now imprisoned.

The Pakistan government placed ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz on the exit control list (ECL) to prevent them from flying overseas after they return to the country from London on Friday.

The decision was taken at a meeting presided over by the interior secretary. Authorities have also chose to obtain their judicial remand in prison in case any security issue emerges.

"We will reach Lahore on July 13", Maryam told reporters.

"The interior ministry on the request of the country's anti-graft body - National Accountability Bureau (NAB)- has placed the names of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz on ECL", an official of the Interior Ministry confirmed.

The former premier was hopeful that his party will accord a historic victory, this time on a "scale of which the opponents can not even imagine".

"After continued raids of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) at his houses in Abbotabad, Mansehra and Haripur, Captain Safdar chose to surrender before NAB", the anti-graft watchdog said.

The move came days after the accountability court in Islamabad convicted Mr Sharif and Maryam in the Avenfield properties corruption case and sentenced them to 10 and seven years jail respectively.

NAB officials took Safdar into custody after he appeared at a party rally in Rawalpindi.

Maryam was given 7 years imprisonment for abetment after she was found "instrumental in concealment of the properties of her father" and one year for non-cooperation with NAB. Sharif has already been disqualified for life by the Supreme Court in the Panama Papers scandal.

The Sharif family is now all set to challenge the verdict later in the day.
