Apple has released a new HomePod 11.4.1 update. The rollout also includes an update for the Apple Homepod smart speakers with version number 11.4.1. Both updates are minor in nature and do not bring any new features to the table.

To download the latest update on your MAC devices, just launch the Apple App store and look for the update in the Updates section of the app. The update lets you play music through paired HomePods as well as multiple AirPlay 2-capable devices via iTunes. AirPlay 2 support is also naturally included in macOS Mojave, now in public beta, but will be a welcome surprise for those users who are still on High Sierra. Apart from that, the update also fixes an issue with the Photos app that prevented it from reading AVCHD media from certain cameras. Both updates are already available and should be ready for download for all Apple Watch and the 4th and 5th generation Apple TV owners.

Importantly, the update is downloaded by the HomePod itself, meaning the instruction for it to update can be done from anywhere and at any time, even when the iOS device initiating it is not on the same WiFi network. Those with automatic software updates turned on will be upgraded automatically.

It's highly recommended that you download the update right away if you've been having issues with Apple's speaker.
