Daniels has been embroiled in a lawsuit with the President since early March, to get out of a non-disclosure agreement relating to an alleged affair she had with him in 2006.

Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, is suing Mr Trump and his former personal lawyer Michael Cohen to nullify a 2016 non-disclosure agreement preventing her from speaking out about the affair she says they had in 2006.

"Just received [sic] word that my client Stormy Daniels was arrested in Columbus Ohio while [sic] performing the same act she has performed across the nation at almost a hundred strip clubs", Avenatti tweeted.

Her lawyer, Michael Avenatti, told followers on Twitter it was the: "same act she has performed across the nation at almost a hundred clubs".

The high-powered attorney claims the arrest was "part of a sting" based on a "puritan law" that says there is absolutely no touching in strip clubs in Columbus.

Just rcvd word that my client @StormyDaniels was arrested in Columbus Ohio whole performing the same act she has performed across the nation at almost a hundred strip clubs. Avenatti alleged that her arrest was "a politically motivated set up". It reeks of desperation, ' he wrote. "We will fight all bogus charges", Avenatti said on Twitter.

Under Ohio law, an employee who regularly appears nude or seminude on the premises of a sexually-oriented business is not allowed to touch a patron or anyone who's not a family member while nude or seminude at that business.

He said he expected his client to be released on bail and that she would be charged with a misdemeanor for allowing touching.

Calls to the Columbus Police Department's media information officers went to voicemail. He was married to Melania Trump at the time and has denied Daniel's claim.
