Jones's arrest stems from an incident in which Rodolfo Rodriguez was reportedly taking a routine walk around his neighborhood on July 4.

Rodriguez travels to the US yearly from Michoacan, Mexico, to visit his family in Willowbrook, grandson Erik Mendoza told CNN, which reported that the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department was seeking up to five suspects - the woman and three or four men - as of Monday night. She then began striking him with the brick.

"I'll leave it to the law", he said in Spanish. 'I just passed her, and she pushed me and she hit me until she was done'.

Jones has been booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and is being held on $200,000 bail, the Sheriff's Department stated. The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said they have arrested the woman who allegedly hit Rodriguez.

"Go back to your country, why are you here, you mother******", she said.

Ms Borjas said when she tried to defend Mr Rodriguez, the woman threatened to hit her with the brick. She said she saw a woman with the girl push Rodriguez and beat him with a brick. In response, a woman believed to be the girl's mother threw Rodriguez to the ground and started hitting him with her fist.

Rodriguez's story has gone viral since the attack.

He told reporters that he doesn't know why he was attacked and is grateful for the outpouring of community support and well wishes he's received.

Borjas also said that while she was on the phone with 911, multiple men assaulted Rodriguez as he lay on the ground.

"I can't walk", Rodriguez said. "In the years I have been alive I have never offended anyone".

'What's going to heal me is Jesus Christ. They'll give her the punishment she deserves'.

"He is [doing] very badly, he has many bruises on his face, he has lost his sight in his right eye and he has a broken cheekbone". He suffered a broken jaw and cheekbone, two broken ribs and severe bruising, according to his family.

"Who would do this to anybody?" the victim's grandson, Erik Mendoza, told NBC Los Angeles.

"A 92-year-old senior citizen, what can he do to anybody?" There's no harm that he meant'.

Police are still searching for the four men seen in the video attacking Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, whose face is still black and blue a week after the attack, hugged Borjas outside his home Wednesday and thanked her for her help.

Following a social media uproar over the attack, Mr Mendoza set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for the grandfather's hospital expenses.
