The post-apocalyptic sci-fi comic book series Y: The Last Man is set in the aftermath of a mysterious plague that has wiped out every male mammal except for Yorick Brown (Keoghan) - an amateur escape artist - and his monkey, Ampersand.

Keoghan will play Yorick Brown, the titular "last man", while Lane will play Senator Jennifer Brown, his mother.

And when we say casting iceberg, Lane is just one of the people added to the show, playing Senator Jennifer Brown, a politician who has made a name for herself putting persona ideas above governmental wrangling. She is a tough and confident EMT who nurses a deep emotional trauma that often leads her to cross personal and professional lines.

Another rich character is 355, who will be played by Lashana Lynch, "a Secret Service agent who performs the duties of her job with the utmost professionalism, even under the most unexpected set of circumstances".

Juliana Canfield will play Beth, Yorick's girlfriend and the person he starts searching for once the apocalypse happens.

Finally, Ireland will play Nora, the President's senior assistant and right hand. "She effortlessly balances family life with a job navigating the corridors of power".

Michael Green, who recently left the Starz series American Gods, will serve as showrunner, along with Aida Mashaka Croal of Luke Cage and Turn. Vaughan will be an EP on the potential series. Melina Matsoukas (Master of None) will direct the pilot episode.

Like its protagonist, comic book adaptation Y: The Last Man has had quite the journey as it attempted to find its way to screens.

It's unknown if FX will pick up Y to series, but this is a promising start. It received three Eisner Awards, and received the first Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story for Y: The Last Man, Volume 10. He is repped by WME, Management 360, and Troika. She is repped by ICM and Untitled Entertainment.
