Capcom has announced they will be partnering up with Pure Imagination Studios to create an animated special that will be an adaptation of their Monster Hunter universe.

Take down these monsters and receive materials that you can use to create stronger weapons and armor in order to hunt even more risky monsters. However, we were given a name and a kind of a teaser premise.

Today we know when the Monster Hunter World side is going to happen, and that's with a new free update which will happen on August 2nd at 1:00 AM BST or August 1st at 5:00 PM PDT. Capcom's brief summary of the special teases an encounter between the man and a monster called the Elder Dragon, a beast that's described as "a veritable force of nature made flesh".

The Monster Hunter franchise has typically been a big hit in Japan but apart from a couple of notable entries, never made much headway in the West thanks to its steep learning curve, typically bad storylines and slog of a tutorial.

"We are thrilled to return fans to the universe of Monster Hunter and expand the series' rich lore", said Monster Hunter series producer Tsujimoto. Capcom is working closely with Western production company Pure Imagination Studios on this intriguing project.

Pure Imagination focuses on "building content driven eco-systems and experiences" that live across "multiple platforms of engagement", according to John P. Roberts, chief content officer.

Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild is due out in 2019.
