His wife Amal - with whom he has one-year-old twins Ella and Alexander - rushed to his bedside once she was informed of the crash, before escorting him home.

George Clooney and his wife, Amal, prepare to leave Sardinia on July 12 after the actor was released from the hospital following a motorbike accident.

Clooney can be seen limping on board as he clutches the rails in the images.

Italian authorities previously confirmed to ET that Clooney was involved in a traffic collision while riding his scooter near Olbia on Tuesday.

With Amal's help, Clooney eased his way off the cart and leaned on an assistant as he walked to the jet.

The 67-year-old driver also told newspaper Corriere della Sera that he moved to the opposite lane because he couldn't see. The video shows Clooney flying through the air. I was just starting to turn, I'd only gone a little way over the white line.

Clooney, who landed on the asphalt and cracked his helmet, was treated at The John Paul II hospital and released after a few hours. Though he had no fractures, there was reportedly trauma to his pelvis, hip, and knee, which should heal in three weeks. Clooney is now filming a new series, "Catch 22", based on the classic novel by Joseph Heller. He said he had planned to visit Clooney at the hospital, but when he was about to go, he learned Clooney had been released.

The movie star is recovering at his rented home in Sardinia following the crash near Olbia, Italy on Tuesday, after he was briefly hospitalized, and now the plumber behind the wheel of the vehicle has opened up about the drama.
