He also wants a bigger and more comfortable bed aboard future Air Force One planes - a pair of Boeing 747s that likely won't actually go into service until 2021, by which time he may not be president anymore, according to the site.

President Donald Trump wants to repaint Air Force One and change the color from white and robin's egg blue to something "more American", Axios reports. But will his iconic ride soon be changing? POTUS reportedly wants to ditch the "Jackie Kennedy color", noting the late first lady's involvement in an Air Force One redesign in the early 1960s.

The presidential motorcade, which includes two identical limousines, nicknamed The Beast, and other security and communications vehicles, is brought across by US Air Force transport aircraft. He wants to replace the current light blue trim-which he described as a "Jackie Kennedy color"-or something potentially involving the red, white, and blue of the USA flag".

The White House announced the deal would save taxpayers $1.4 billion, as the cost will be a reduction from the initial $5 billion estimate for the new planes.

The president has at his side at all times a White House doctor and one of five rotating military aides who carry the nuclear "football" - equipped with communication tools and a book with prepared war plans. Historian Michael Beschloss balked at the proposed paint job and defended the "timeless design" chosen by the Kennedys.

The words "United States of America", the Seal of the President of the United States and the American flag are all visible on the outside of the plane, making it instantly recognisable. He instead opted for blue, which was reportedly his favorite color.
