Mr Trump is now in the United Kingdom for his first official visit since becoming US President in 2017.

While inspecting the guard at Windsor, the Queen appeared to give direction to Mr Trump but then the president abruptly halted and she was forced to walk around him.

"She is a tremendous woman. But I liked her a lot". I think she represents her country so well.

Before the Queen caught up with him, the US President looked side to side to see where she was. You don't see, like, anything embarrassing. "She's a fantastic woman; so much energy and smart and sharp", the president told the Daily Mail on Saturday. "It was really something special", Trump said of the meeting.

"The Queen doesn't expect people to bow to her, though many choose to anyway", CNN royal correspondent Max Foster said.

Also, in 1997, Trump made a lewd comment about Princess Diana during a radio interview. Sometimes you'll have a guest on where no matter what you do it's not working, right? "You could've nailed her?" Trump relied, "I think I could've".

Donald Trump has praised the Queen after spending around 50 minutes in a meeting with the monarch at Windsor Castle. To be fair, Trump's motorcade arrived right on the dot, at the agreed-upon time, so technically he wasn't late. A handshake. This is not how one traditionally greets the Queen. Queen was also spotted looking at the watch in Trump's absence.

According to Grant Harrold, the royal etiquette expert and former butler to several members of the Royal family including Prince Charles and Prince William and Harry, Trump did indeed break protocol by standing in front of the Queen.

This wasn't the only awkward moment on Friday.

The Trumps were greeted with traditional pomp and circumstance when they arrived at Windsor, with the queen's guards marching and playing the USA national anthem. In an explosive interview with The Sun released a day prior, Trump slammed May for her "soft" handling of Brexit. "I can combat that fake news because I have so many followers". "I would actually say that she probably went the opposite way", Trump told the paper. It's a very sad situation. The president was expected to stay the weekend in Scotland at his Turnberry golf property.

"I was walking up and I was saying (to Melania) 'Can you imagine my mother seeing this scene?"
