This Is 76ers ‘Most Realistic’ Offer For Kawhi Leonard

It comes as a major surprise given teams like the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers were previously linked most often to Leonard. However, teams like Toronto could look at what happened with Paul George last year, when the Oklahoma City Thunder took a chance by trading for him even though it seemed like he would be a one-year rental. Now it seems their may be a new favorite to land the All-Star forward. The Washington Post's Tim Bontemps also reported the Raptors are on of the contenders to trade for Leonard.

Does that mean Pau Gasol will be playing for the Sixers next season? They trail only the Raptors and Leonard's current team the Spurs in odds.

It's now closing in on mid-July, and Kawhi Leonard and the San Antonio Spurs' fractured relationship appears no closer to a resolution. Toronto would arguably become Eastern Conference favorites with that move while also sacrificing at least two promising young pieces in Anunoby and Poeltl.

"The Sixers' most realistic package to submit to San Antonio could involve Dario Saric, Robert Covington and the Miami Heat's 2021 unprotected first-round pick", The Inquirer's Keith Pompey writes. And if "everyone around the National Basketball Association expects Gregg Popovich to eventually take care of Brett Brown", then it seems like the chances of the Sixers winning the jackpot for Kawhi Leonard is more likely than not, putting them clear favorites for him.

It certainly doesn't hurt the Sixers' chances that head coach Brett Brown has some history with Leonard from his time as an assistant with the Spurs. Although, the Sixers could still use another veteran presence and a guy like Gasol would be a ideal fit off the bench to come in a spot for Joel Embiid at center or in his usual power forward role.
