Why Prime Day is important to Amazon

Amazon is gearing up for its annual Prime Day on July 16, but getting a deal that matches Black Friday prices isn't a certainty.

Amazon is offering early access to a variety of deals ahead of the official Prime Day start time. In previous years Amazon have given its Prime members exclusive deals on instruments, accessories and more.

According to DownDetector.com, outage reports spiked around noon PT - just as Amazon Prime Day officially began for reals - and appear to be limited to Amazon.com in the U.S. "Many are shopping successfully", the company insists, "in the first hour of Prime Day in the United States, customers have ordered more items compared to the first hour previous year".

Amazon launched Prime Day in 2015 and by 2017 it was its second biggest shopping day, topped only by Cyber Monday.

The big win for retailers on Prime Day is when a shopper sees something they want on Amazon, and then finds the same thing for less on a competing site.

When Prime Day kicked off at 3 p.m., excited customers were greeted by a stuck home page screen or pictures of a dog, instead of the Prime Day sale.

Also, shoppers can track their Prime Day orders with Alexa.

Prime is the "most critical driver" for Amazon's e-commerce business in the long run, argued Cowen analyst John Blackledge.

Prime Members can get a sneak peek at upcoming deals by visiting the Prime Day landing page. Adobe said other major retailers saw sales jump 35 percent on Prime Day previous year.

Another advantage of Prime membership is that you get free, next-day delivery. However, it should be noted that these deals will be open exclusively for Prime members only.

On Monday, a German trade union said it would join a strike in Spain in a one-day protest starting tomorrow. The sale will bring exciting deals on the products from the brands such as OnePlus, Sennheiser, WD, Godrej, Cloudwalker, Seagate, Samsung, and others.

We list some of these attractive Amazon deals to make your shopping experience easier. In April, Amazon said Prime had over 100 million subscribers - the first time a number was released for the program - assumably up from the previously disclosed "tens of millions" the company previously touted. Amazon recommends that shoppers download the free Amazon app.
