Michelle Williams reveals she sought help for mental health issues

Michelle Williams is getting open and honest about seeking help for depression and her celebrity friends are praising her for speaking out.

The singer announced on her Instagram account that after struggling with depression for a very long time, she has finally checked in to a mental health center.

According to TMZ, the 37-year-old Destiny's Child singer is being treated in a facility outside of Los Angeles and has been there for several days.

Williams has been vocal about mental health awareness throughout the years and during an interview with The Talk in 2017 even shared her struggle with suicidal thoughts during her prime years as a member of Destiny's Child. "What do you have to be depressed about?"

A year ago in October, she stopped by The Talk to reveal that despite being at the peak of her career, she was still dealing with a lot of unexplained sadness.

"I think at the age of 25, had I had a name to what I was feeling at the time, I would have disclosed that 'I've been suffering from depression, '" Williams said on the talk show. You're about to go on tour. "Today I proudly, happily and healthily stand here as someone who will continue to always lead by example as I tirelessly advocate for the betterment of those in need", the former Destiny's Child member continued. Missy Elliott tweeted, "I want to lift our sis up in prayer because there are so many people battling this and many trying to deal with it alone".

Beyoncé's mother, Tina Knowles Lawson, commented under Williams' statement on Instagram with a message of love. Depression is real especially in our community. "I love and support you with all my being".
