Nokia X5 launched with notch display, dual cameras: Price, specifications and features

The rounded body design of the phone promotes comfortable grip. But as the name suggests, the Nokia X5 starts at a lower price point, cutting a few corners compared to its cousin, as well as the 6.1, which Jordan called the "best budget phone of the year."

Nokia X5 was code-named "Panda" internally and it sports a double-sided glass body with a poly-carbonate frame. The company also mentioned to include the "eye protection mode" that turns on automatically based the usage. The dimensions of the Nokia X5 are at 149.51x71.98x 8.096mm. There is also a MicroSD card slot for further expansion of storage.

On the photography front, it has a 15MP + 5MP dual primary camera setup with support for AI imagery and facial recognition along with an 8MP secondary camera for clicking selfies. The handset includes a 3,060mAh battery. It is packed with a selfie camera of 8-megapixel with f/2.0 aperture that offers features like AI beauty, AI stickers, AI background blurring effect and dual-view shooting mode that allow users to use the front and rear cameras at the same time. The company boasts that the cameras come with AI features and HDR support. The vertically stacked dual camera sensor, the fingerprint sensor and the logo all sit below one another at the rear top centre.

The Nokia X5 is loaded with pure edition of Android 8.1 Oreo. The company has also confirmed that the X5 will be treated with Android 9.0 in future.

For connectivity options, the new Nokia X5 smartphone gets 4G VoLTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, and USB Type-C port.

The Nokia X5 has been launched in two bundles 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage and 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage options, and both the variants are priced at CNY 999 (roughly Rs. 9,999) and CNY 1,399 (roughly Rs. 13,999) respectively. These platforms will begin the sales of the X5 by 10:05 AM (local time) tomorrow.

The phone has only been launched in China as of now, and HMD global has not announced any plans for a global release. Moreover, the company will also be launching the new X6 in the worldwide market as Nokia 6.1 Plus tomorrow.
