UNC Football excited about addition of Javonte Williams

For those curious, it takes about two hours for the light to click on after saying something controversial at a media event, as Larry Fedora discovered here Wednesday at the ACC Kickoff.

The news followed on the heels of head coach Larry Fedora's CTE-denial rant about football being under attack while linking the game to US military superiority.

"I fear the game will be pushed so far to one extreme that you won't recognize the game 10 years from now".

Fedora decried an increased connection drawn by medical researchers between tackle football and degenerative brain disease, and said the future of the United States is tied to the preservation of football as we know it. "And I do believe that if it gets to that point, that our country goes down, too", he said.

Correlating a change in the dynamics of football to the United States ability to exist is one heck of a reach. And if we stop learning those lessons, we're going to struggle.

Nicole Auerbach, a reporter for The Athletic, reported that Fedora said a member of the armed forces told him our military is so great because so many of its members played football growing up. But Fedora came across as quite uneducated about the severity of football injuries and perhaps the resiliency of the nation, which probably will be able to survive footballs targeting rule.

If I had a son who was a P5 football prospect, I would immediately take UNC off my list. In the main press conference, he praised football for being safer than ever. A report from the New York Times last summer showed 110 of 111 brains of former National Football League players had symptoms of CTE.
