Samsung's Galaxy Watch could be set to launch on 9 August

The Galaxy Note and S lines were once distinguished by size and the pen, but with the S Plus approaching and even exceeding the Note in size, it raises questions as to whether Samsung should even be having two similarly sized and specced phones. According to the source, Samsung is looking to integrate the Galaxy Note series features into the Plus variant of the upcoming Galaxy S smartphones. As reported earlier, Samsung is foregoing the Gear nomenclature and will be calling the product Galaxy Watch instead of Gear S4.

If all goes well, the Galaxy Watch could be unveiled alongside the Galaxy Note 9 on August 9 and go on sale together on August 24 with pre-orders starting August 14. However, this was only so because other phone companies like Xiaomi, Huawei and others did not have a more significant presence and now that they do, Samsung's market share is being eaten by devices that are accompanied by cheaper price tags.

If it's all to be believed, it means the smartwatch will launch alongside the company's next flagship smartphone, the Note 9, and will also represent the first time in recent memory Samsung has used its own event, and not IFA, to debut its fresh wares.

Do you think the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series should be merged? Given rumours have claimed Samsung will be releasing three versions of the Galaxy S10, it seems the latter is a possibility.

And although we've got mixed feelings about that - we were enormous fans of the Gear brand, giving the Samsung Gear S3 a coveted five-star review - we're excited to see what a Galaxy revamp could look like.
