A reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is in the works, but some fans of the original series want to put a stake in it. This show will serve as a reunion for Owusu-Breen and Whedon, who previously worked together on Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Joss Whedon's cult hit drama took his original idea, which was made into a fine 1992 movie but not what Whedon had envisioned, and became one of the best shows of its generation, spawning a die-hard fandom with its great characters, sharp writing, and powerful drama. This week, HBO announced a straight-to-series order for The Nevers, which will follow a gang of Victorian women with unusual abilities bent on saving the world. Gail Berman, Fran Kazui, Kaz Kazui, Joe Earley will also serve as executive producers on the TV series. However, it is unclear how much more involvement in the series that Joss Whedon will have due to his busy schedule.

The latest Buffy reboot has no air date as yet. A network is not yet attached for the new Buffy, talks for which began last fall. She is credited as the writer and showrunner for a slew of other titles including Midnight, Texas.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer originally ran for seven seasons on The WB Network and UPN from 1997 to 2003. Scroll through The CW's offerings and you'll see supernatural series - including the one called Supernatural - and more than a few complicated and strong-willed female protagonists. Its cast includes Sarah Michelle Gellar, Nicholas Brendon, Alyson Hannigan, Charisma Carpenter, Anthony Stewart Head, David Boreanaz, Kristine Sutherland, Seth Green, James Marsters, Marc Blucas, Emma Caulfield, Michelle Trachtenberg, Amber Benson, and Tom Lenk. In addition to its knack for using monsters as a gateway to explore issues that teenagers face every day, it's also celebrated for inventive episodes like "Once More With Feeling", a musical episode, and "Hush", which was largely silent. A Black Buffy? The world is READY FOR THIS.
