Vivo Nex Review | Phone With Truly Full-Screen Display And Hidden Camera

To find a new place for the camera and achieve this incredible screen to body ratio, Vivo got creative to bring the old motorised tech and fit in a pop-up camera on top of the phone. The NEX was first showcased at MWC 2018 and after China, India is the first country where the phone will be available.

On the imaging front, there's a Sony IMX363 12-megapixel sensor with an aperture of f/1.8, 4-axis optical image stabilization and 1.4μm pixel size which is coupled with a secondary 5-megapixel lens of f/2.4 aperture. The Vivo NEX is the commercial device built based on the APEX's concept design. It bears an in-display fingerprint sensor. It uses the sound casting technology which makes the whole display reflect the sound through vibrations.

Powered by the latest Snapdragon 845 SoC, the device comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. It has a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED screen with resolution of 2,316x1,080p and wider than usual aspect ratio of 19:9.

The Vivo NEX measures 162 × 77 × 7.98 mm and weighs 199 grams.

The selfie camera has an aperture rate of f/2.0 and comes with features such as Live Photo, Face Beauty, Backlight HDR, Portrait Bokeh (single camera), Panorama, AR Stickers, Filters.

It has connectivity features such as dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB 2.0 with OTG support, GLONASS, GPS, Ambient Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, among others.

The phone was initially launched in China last month where the company also introduced an affordable version called Vivo Nex A along with the regular variant.

The highlight of the Vivo Nex phone is its pop-up selfie camera that slides up and down whenever required. Pre-orders will begin today on Amazon India.

The Vivo Nex price in India has been set at Rs. 44,990, and it will go on sale via Amazon India and the company site from July 21. Apart from this, users will get one-time free screen replacement on the purchase of Vivo NEX.

The Vivo Nex is the only smartphones after Oppo Find X which has an nearly bezel-less screen offering a truly immersive edge-to-edge experience.
