He pointed to numerous attempts by the USA to put pressure on the Iranian nation and bully them and said, "We have always told other countries, including United States allies, that confronting U.S. bullying should go beyond political commitments and should lead to practical measures with a timeframe".

"America must understand well that peace with Iran is the mother of all peace, and war with Iran is the mother of all wars".

Iranian officials have in the past threatened to block the Strait of Hormuz, a major oil shipping route, in retaliation for any hostile USA action.

"You are not in a position to incite the Iranian nation against Iran's security and interests", Rouhani added, Reuters reported.

Washington initially planned to totally shut Iran out of global oil markets after Trump abandoned the deal that limited Iran's nuclear ambitions, demanding all other countries to stop buying its crude by November.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei rejected on Saturday the idea of new negotiations with the United States, praising the latest comments by Iranian president Hassan Rouhani in which he threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz if new oil sanctions are imposed against Tehran. He made it clear that Tehran will not buckle under the economic pressure from Washington.

"Whenever Europe has sought an agreement with us, the White House has sown discord", Rouhani said. "Or are they prepared to stand against this?"

"The word and even the signature of the Americans can not be relied upon, so negotiations with America are of no avail", Khamenei said.

Also in a meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his cabinet in Tehran on July 15, Ayatollah Khamenei said the European signatories to the nuclear deal must provide Tehran with necessary guarantees about the continued implementation of the deal.

Khamenei said on Saturday it was an "obvious" mistake to negotiate with the United States because it does not abide by agreements.

"The United States has basic and fundamental problem with the (Islamic) establishment", Khamenei was quoted as saying.

Iran's presence in the region is elemental for Iran's power and security and it is a strategic policy, he stressed.
