After teasing out movie images for more than week, offering the first genuine look at Zachary Levi in his hotly debated superhero costume, Warner Bros.at long last said the magic word today at Comic-Con International in San Diego, and unveiled the first trailer for Shazam! Overall, the film looks like it's following up on the promise to be the "Big" of superhero movies, as teased by star Zachary Levi some time ago.

Based on the looks of the latest trailer from Warner Bros, Shazam! will not be a movie that superhero fans will want to miss. In the film, Billy (whose younger version is played by Disney Channel star Asher Angel) is assigned to a new foster home where he befriends comic book superfan Freddy.

In contrast to the gloom and doom of the Batman and Superman movies, or even the seriousness of Wonder Woman, Shazam! looks light and amusing.

Firmly set in the DC universe but with his own distinctly fun, family-centric tone, the screenplay is by Henry Gayden, story by Gayden and Darren Lemke. But then a unusual experience on the tube leads Billy to suddenly inherit special powers - the ability to turn into adult-sized superhero Shazam, played by Zachary Levi. "This is 14-year-old me wanting to put on spandex and a cape and fly around.I get to bring to life a character that I know is near and dear to a lot of people".

The footage was received very well by the audience in Hall H and in general came across as light-hearted and actually takes the piss about superhero tropes a bit too. Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision?

Also starring Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, and Marta Milans, Shazam! opens in theaters on April 5, 2019. "But he'll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong)".
