There's a 6-month no cost EMI option for all popular bank credit card holders as well. "Three years later, India is our benchmark for creating successful global products", Lau wrote on a company forum. In India that's not really the case, and it certainly explains why the company is willing to give them exclusive access to limited edition versions of the latest OnePlus phones. For purchases on Amazon India with exchange, customers will get an extra Rs 1,500 as exchange value when buying the OnePlus 6. OnePlus 6 comes in different colour options of midnight black, mirror black, red and silk white. Not only that, but Counterpoint reports that during the second quarter of this year OnePlus shipped more premium phones than Samsung for the first time in its history.

As per Hong Kong based market tracker Counterpoint Research, OnePlus overtook Apple and Samsung in April to June quarter cornering over 40% share of the Indian premium smartphone market with devices priced over Rs 30,000. Next was the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus with 12%, then the OnePlus 5T with 10% of the market.

OnePlus was followed by Samsung with 34% share and Apple which dipped to its lowest at 14%. OnePlus officials in Bengaluru said OnePlus 6 was the best-selling model in the premium segment this quarter, even as it launched in May.

Other brands are edging in, too. "India is today a community that is our eye to the globe, a soundboard for experimentation through which we understand the pulse of the customer at a global level", he said.

The company, which now operates five retail stores in India, will also start a research and development unit in a market which accounts for one third of its revenue. He also confirmed that the brand will continue to invest heavily in the country.

OnePlus, which is now the leading brand in the premium smartphone segment in India today announced exclusive offers for the users purchasing the OnePlus 6. This young market is now set to become our second home ground, a centre for product innovation. "Our new R&D centre in India is just the beginning", said Lau.
